Gilberto Torres started his musical career with the National Youth Orchestra of Venezuela.  His passion for music brings him beyond the classical boundaries to explore also the popular music, where he attains great achievements as a composer and arranger.  Due to this success he is chosen to represent his country in the La

Havana International Jazz Festival held in Cuba.  Among the participants were a long list of internationally recognized artists such as Iraquere, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Emiliano Salvador.

While in Venezuela he had the opportunity to play with countless Latin Jazz and Pop bands such as Madera, Cimarrón, Balija, Sandungueros, Los Morillos, Joe y su Charanga, el Taller de Jazz de la Pastora, etc.

After several presentations and having finished his studies, he travels to Colonia, Germany, to further his career.  There he had the chance to work for the musical productions agency, "Alba Kultur Aktion" and he also was the musical director for the theatrical presentation of  "Die Toten Diktaoren" and combined those activities with concerts throughout Germany and Europe playing Latin Jazz.

In 1996 he is invited to tour the States with arpist Carlos Guedes.  His music had a specially warm welcome in places as Texas and Montana, so much that he decided stay there to continue his career.

While in the States, he has worked with such artists as Hilton Ruiz, Alex Acuña, Justo Armario, Strumz y Farah, Thalia, Alvaro Torres, Luis Enrique, Jesús Enrique and a long list of other artists based in Los Angeles.
