Juan J. Colomer was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1966.  At age 8 he started his music studies in his city, Alzira under the direction of Mr. Francisco Hernandez.  He continued such studies in the Conservatory of Valencia, where he graduated in Trumpet with Mr. Leopoldo Vidal and Composition with Mr. Amando Blanquer.

At age sixteen he became a founding member of the National Youth Orchestra of Spain and combined such activity with concerts throughout Europe.

In 1990 he moved to Boston to study Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music. At that time he started to get his first jobs as a film composer for some documentaries which received National and International Prizes, including a First Prize in Monte Carlo.  He also received an award for a Harp Composition.

Shortly after he moved to Los Angeles where he continued his career as a film composer, arranger and orchestrator, combining this activity with various workshops and seminars with Henri Mancini, Mark Isham, Bill Conti, Arthur Hiller and Bruce Broughton among others.

He has composed a long list of soundtracks for films faeturing such artists as Margaux Hemingway, Joe Estevez, Jan Michael Vincent, Joey Travolta, Hudson Leick (from Melrose Place) and Yareli Arizmendi (Like Water for Chocolate).

As an orchestrator he has worked for Plácido Domingo in the series of concerts that the singer presents every Christmas from Vienna, as well as the Three Tenors Concert in Paris  conducted by James Levine.

His list of Clasical Compositions has a new piece.  It's "Raices", a commision for the 30th Anniversary of the Alzira's Musical Society, a Symphonic piece for over 130 musicians which premiered last November in Valencia.
