BELLA Y OSCURA® (Beautiful and dark) is the idea and creation of internationally recognized composer Juan J. Colomer whose credits include an extensive list of Film Scores, classical compositions and orchestrations for Plácido Domingo and The Three Tenors Concert among others.

Motivated by a passion for music for the love of it without any intention to categorize and label it, its music does not follow the usual trend in today's market where an artist needs to do the music that fits the style he is in. On the contrary, as Juan says in his own words:

"If I feel that a song needs a Classical Choir, or I want to do a Symphonic Rock arrangement, I'll just do it, no matter that the song before had a Bossa Nova flavor or a Jazz Quartet.

In BELLA Y OSCURA's music converge originality and maturity, creating a fresh but strong in its conception sound that makes it very unique. Dark sonorities that attract like a vacuum and invite you to penetrate and wander around in lost worlds. Intricate textures with a lightness to them which makes them seem to be floating. They appear, disappear, captivate you and at the end you find yourself trying to figure out what happened.

Although easy to listen to for the first time, it might take some time to really assimilate it completely and, even so, you always find new things, new meanings for the lyrics, new experiences. Classicism turned vanguard. Remaining of cultures coexisting in a new form. History and future dwelling in a perpetual "nowness".

Although Juan seems to be rather simplistic about it:

"All I'm trying to do is leave you with a warm feeling and a smile in your face"
