The name of the band is taken from an enchanting book by a no less enchanting Spanish author: Rosa Montero.

"When Esmeralda came to Los Angeles to record the lyrics, she was very impressed by a book she was reading in the plane.  During the following days, she would continue reading it in the breaks during the recording and oddly enough, there was always an almost

scary similarity between what she was reading and the song that she had to record that day. When we finished the recording I still didn't have a name for the band and asked  her if she had any idea. There it was the

book, innocently lying in a corner of the studio...  I personally think it's a very beautiful, almost magical name which describes (or at least I would like it to) the character of the music. Thankfully Rosa Montero let us use it for which I am very grateful."

The recording was done between July and November 1998 at Juan's own in-house facility and the Mad Hatter Studios in Los Angeles. The album was mixed by Jordan D'Alessio at Mad Hatter Studios during February of 1999 and the mastering was done by Larry Mah also at Mad Hatter Studios and Lightning Services.
